President & Chief Compliance Officer

Hi I'm Ryan and I love what I do! I founded Weiser Financial Planning LLC after working many years in the corporate world.  I chose to open WFP because I wanted to create a business with a noble purpose where I could combine my entrepreneurial side with my passion for helping people to make wise financial decisions.  I believe that money is just a tool and that it's important to help people connect their money with the things that are most important to them.

I have worked in the financial services industry since 2000 working for several Fortune 500 companies.  Over those years I have consulted with hundreds of financial advisors from various financial institutions including banks, insurance companies, wirehouses, and independent broker/dealers. Through this experience I have had the opportunity to help thousands of clients and positively impact their lives.

One of my driving motivations in building a new financial planning business was to separate from the Wall Street firms, banks, and insurance companies where I am not handcuffed by proprietary products, sales incentives, and conflicts of interest that are intended to maximize company returns at the expense of my clients.  As an independent RIA we are completely free to focus on our clients and what's in your best interest.

I have lived in Lewis Center, OH since 2004 with my lovely wife Erica and our two wonderful children Ethan (11) and Reagan (8).  We are very active in the local community and we can usually be found at the activity of the day whether its dance, girl scouts, taekwondo, or travel baseball and soccer. When not shuffling the kids around town I coach youth soccer and enjoy mountain biking and golfing on the weekends.  We are active members of St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Lewis Center and I serve on the finance committee.

I am originally from upstate New York where we often make quick road-trips back to visit with family and friends.  I am a graduate of the State University of New York at Brockport and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.   I have continued my education and passion for financial services by continually growing to be a better advisor and find new ways to improve my clients' lives.  In doing so I have earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL®) designations through The American College.  Additionally, I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional through the CFP® Board and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) practitioner that is awarded through the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts.

My first recollection of money was one day when I was 5 years old and my grandfather came to visit.  He kneeled down in the driveway and handed me a dollar bill.  For some reason he continued this trend and shared a dollar with me each and every time I saw him.  I continued to collect those bills for many years.  It was a very elementary lesson but I feel I learned how to save and handle money at a very young age.  My grandfather lived generously although being self-employed his cash flow was inconsistent.  I noticed as he grew older and slowed down from working that his standard of living had changed.  It became evident to me that he never saved nor planned for his future retirement for life after work. No personal savings, no pension, and a gray divorce later in life put him into financial turmoil.

As the only grandson of twelve grandchildren, he and I had a special relationship.  It later dawned on me many years later that these events had unconsciously en-grained several money lessons and behaviors that helped shape my personal values around money.  This helped create my personal mission with helping people to find purpose, and connecting their money with the things that are most important to them. This goes much further than focusing on investment returns.  I like to say, "money without purpose is like eating cereal without milk, it might taste ok - it's just not as satisfying."  At Weiser Financial Planning we want you to live your life values and reach your fullest potential.  We will help you make wise financial decisions for today and tomorrow.
